If you don’t have the time to use the method I suggest in the printable you might have received if you signed up to receive emails from this site, there are several other tools you can use in your business to generate blog ideas. Some of these tools generate funny ideas, others generate more practical ideas if you prompt them correctly. I’ll discuss them in this post.
Portent’s Content Idea Generator
I mention this one near the end of my lead magnet. This tool can generate some funny topic ideas, depending on what you put in as your subject. Just go here and put in a subject. For this example, I’ll use “content writing.” Next, click “Generate Idea.” Here are some of the ideas it generated when I put in “content writing.”

As you can see, some of these are good ideas, and others are kind of funny ideas (Why Content Writing is More Tempting Than a Cinnabon? I don’t know about that one. Content writing might keep me from eating a Cinnabon, but I don’t know about being more tempting.)
Still, this is a good site to use to help get the creative juices flowing.
Hubspot’s Blog Topic Generator
This one gives you some better topics. Just put in up to five nouns and you can get some good ideas for blog posts. Again, using the topic of content writing, I got these ideas:

Chat GPT
Chat GPT is the latest and greatest thing. If you use it right, you can come up with some great ideas for blog posts. To use it right, though, you need to prompt it so it gives you ideas that will be appropriate for your audience. For example, as a freelance writer, I might ask Chat GPT to give me blog post ideas that will be appropriate for my audience. My prompt might be something like this:
Imagine you’re a potential customer who wants to hire a freelance writer. What are some topics you’d want to read about on my blog?
When I put that in, Chat GPT came back with these suggestions:
As a potential customer looking to hire a freelance writer, I would be interested in reading about the following topics on your blog:
- Writing Samples and Portfolio: Providing samples of your previous work across various genres and industries would be essential. Showcasing your writing skills and versatility through well-curated samples can give me an idea of your writing style and expertise.
- Client Testimonials and Success Stories: Sharing testimonials or case studies from satisfied clients can provide social proof of your capabilities as a freelance writer. Highlighting successful projects, positive feedback, and long-term client relationships would instill confidence in your abilities.
- Services Offered and Pricing: Clearly outlining the services you offer as a freelance writer, such as blog writing, copywriting, content strategy, editing, or ghostwriting, along with transparent pricing details, would be beneficial. This information helps me understand if your services align with my specific writing needs and budget.
- Writing Process and Communication: Detailing your writing process, including how you conduct research, organize your work, and collaborate with clients, would give me insights into your workflow. Additionally, emphasizing your communication style, responsiveness, and availability for project updates and revisions would be valuable.
- Specializations and Expertise: If you have expertise in specific industries or niches, such as technology, finance, health, or travel, highlighting your knowledge and experience in those areas would be appealing. It assures me that you understand the industry-specific terminology, trends, and target audience.
- Content Strategy and SEO Knowledge: Demonstrating your understanding of content strategy and search engine optimization (SEO) would be important, especially if I’m looking for a writer who can create content that ranks well in search engine results. Articles on keyword research, optimizing content, and driving organic traffic would showcase your SEO expertise.
- Collaboration and Feedback: Writing about your collaborative approach with clients, including how you incorporate their feedback, suggestions, and revisions into your work, would be reassuring. Clients appreciate writers who are open to constructive criticism and actively work to meet their specific requirements.
- Updates on Industry Trends and Best Practices: Sharing your insights and expertise on emerging trends, best practices, and changes in the writing industry would demonstrate your commitment to staying informed and adapting to evolving demands. It showcases your dedication to providing high-quality, up-to-date content.
- Writing Tips and Resources: Offering valuable writing tips, techniques, and resources to help clients improve their own writing or gain insights into the writing process would be appreciated. It shows your willingness to support clients beyond your freelance writing services.
- Contact Information and Availability: Providing clear contact information, such as an email address or a contact form, along with your availability for new projects, inquiries, and potential collaborations, would facilitate easy communication and prompt responses from interested clients.
These things are pretty much standard for most writers – when you’re crafting your prompts, be sure to customize them for your industry.
Those are just a few content generator tools you can use to generate blog ideas. When looking for blog ideas, remember there are a lot of other places you can find blog post ideas too – customer testimonials are always a great way to generate easy blog posts if you have a customer who is very satisfied with your product or service. Interview them and find out how your product or service has made a difference for them.
